Great Ones: After a lengthy hiatus, I have scheduled a Full Moon meditation for this coming Saturday night at the East end East Beach, from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.

I hope you can join us. As always, there is plenty of room for more participants, so feel free to invite 100 of your closest friends.

As in the past, these non-denominational programs are for both novice and experienced meditators.

The Goleta Valley Art Association will host an art festival featuring original works by local artists on Saturday, August 21, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at La Cumbre Plaza. Sponsors include Art Essentials, La Cumbre Plaza, La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts (LCCCA), Limousine Link, Pacific Western Bank and Santa Barbara Voice Magazine.

The show will be mounted in the outdoor mall area of the plaza and give visitors the opportunity to view and purchase the association’s artwork as well as that of artists affiliated with the La Cumbre Center for Creative Arts, which established three work/display galleries in October 2019. Tom Henderson’s Summerland Band will provide music from 1-4 p.m. Henderson, a well-known watercolorist long affiliated with the GVAA summer shows, also has served on the SBCC Lifelong Learning art faculty.

YouthWell presents Learn About Meaningful Volunteer Opportunities for Teens, a free virtual workshop on Sunday, August 22nd, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. 

A one-hour class to learn about Vertebrate Pests (Gophers, Rats, and More).

Bicycling with Butterflies with Sara Dykman Free Online Presentation with Q&A Thursday, August 26th, 5:30pm In 2017, Sara Dykman became the first person to follow - by bicycle - the eastern population of monarch butterflies on their roundtrip, multinational, multigenerational migration. From Mexico to Canada and back, her 10,201 mile adventure, on a beat-up bicycle,
