Santa Barbara author Valerie Cantella will be at Goleta Coffee Co. at 177 S. Turnpike Road on Sunday, February 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. to sign copies and chat about her new memoir--Off-Script: a mom's journey through adoption, a husband's alcoholism, and special needs parenting.

This location offers both an indoor and outdoor space for everyone’s comfort.

Studio Sunday

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in this hands-on informal workshop with SBMA Teaching Artists. Each month explore a different medium—clay, metal, ink, wood, photography, paper—inspired by works of art in the Museum’s collection or special exhibitions.

In February, play with words to create multiple prints in black ink on bright shades of paper inspired by Jenny Holzer’s granite sculpture The Living Series: There is a period when it is clear… (1989).

Goleta Coffee Company is closing after 25 years in business and transitioning to Loca Vivant Kitchen
Final party & celebration: February 15, 177 S. Turnpike
Regular menu items will be available from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
A special happy hour and “show the love to your local coffee shop & its employees” celebration is scheduled from 3-7 p.m.
All proceeds from the day will go toward the cost of covering severance pay for the employees. Many décor items will also be available, with suggested donations going to the employee severance fund.

It is an opportunity to meet other local area developers at Good Space while enjoying a free cowork day, and a hosted pizza lunch. We open at 8:30am. Bring your laptop, headset, and anything else you need for a productive day. We supply the great wifi, HDMI monitors, Keurig coffee, sodas, call boxes, whiteboards, and cool people like you.

Writing in the Galleries

Writers of all levels are invited to participate in this informal exploration of the Museum’s galleries as an impetus to writing. Monthly sessions are led by a visiting writer who begins with a conversation and prompts, partially inspired by works on view. Participants write on their own, then reconvene to share and comment on each other’s work. Please bring something on which to write.

In February, essayist, and lecturer at UC Santa Barbara, Ellen O’Connell Whittet leads her second winter session in Meditated Nature.
