Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee celebrates its 19th Annual Presidents' Circle Luncheon featuring "A Conversation with Katie Hill, Former Congressional Representative from California. Katie will share her future plans, and the ups and downs for younger women considering political careers. Katie Hill was the Executive Director of People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) when she decided to run for office. At the time, Hill was a complete political unknown, a young bisexual woman with no wealth, no Ivy League degree, trying to flip California's 25th congressional district which had been held by Republicans for over two decades. She felt compelled to run after the result of the 2016 presidential election. Hill won the race, but resigned after intimate photos were published by a conservative political site, and a British tabloid. In the world of social media - where political lives are shaped by Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter - there are few regulations on what some call electronic assault, digital exploitation or in this case, "revenge porn." Come, hear her story.
