Studio Sunday

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in this hands-on informal workshop with SBMA Teaching Artists. Each month explore a different medium—clay, metal, ink, wood, photography, paper—inspired by works of art in the Museum’s collection or special exhibitions.

In December, print a winter scene in black ink on gold paper inspired by Winter Landscape (18th –19th century) and Crows in Early Winter, two Japanese screens in the Museum’s collection of East Asian Art.

*Special time due to the Museum closing early for the Member’s holiday event.

40th Annual Messiah Sing Along

After a two-year hiatus, the "Messiah Sing-Along" is back!  The 40th edition of this Santa Barbara holiday tradition will take place on Tuesday, December 13, at 7:30pm in the First  Presbyterian Church, corner of State and Constance.

NAWBO-SB Holiday Party

Join us for a festive holiday celebration at ShopKMJ (Kate McHale Jensen). KMJ, specializing in vintage men’s shirts reimagined for women, will be offering 10% on all purchases! Santa Barbara BRA Lady, Jessica Sneed will also be doing bra fittings! The evening features sips, bites and shopping with your NAWBO sisters while celebrating the holiday season!

Writing in the Galleries

Writers of all levels are invited to participate in this informal exploration of the Museum’s galleries as an impetus to writing. Monthly sessions are led by a visiting writer who begins with a conversation and prompt, partially inspired by works on view. Participants write on their own, then reconvene to share and comment on each other’s work. Please bring something on which to write.

In this special December session, SBCC Creative Writing Professor Joshua Escobar explores the idea of transformation as a prompt for writing. Participants may submit their work for consideration of inclusion in a related public reading and performance at SBMA on February 12 or to the upcoming issue of Open Fruit, SBCC's Creative Writing Magazine. For further information, contact jmescobar2@pipeline.sbcc.edu.
