How do we design happy cities? Urban design consultant, award-winning journalist and author of Happy City, Charles Montgomery looks for answers in psychology, neuroscience and behavioral economics, and in cityscapes from Disneyland to Dubai.
All skill levels are invited to experience the tradition of sketching from original works of art in current exhibitions. Museum Teaching Artists provide general guidance and all materials.

Jazz at the Ballroom presents Get Out of Town on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 7 PM. We’re touring the country through the American Songbook. Even though the birthplace of the Songbook was New York, that didn’t stop musicians from creating a catalogue of memorable tunes about other cities. It’s a show of swinging music with a dozen stops in places like Chicago, Rhode Island, Alabama, San Francisco, and even down Route 66.
The first in a series of eight free Nature Walks to explore the biodiversity of the 230-acre Elings Park as part of a new collaboration between the Park and Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. Each hike has a different natural history focus, such as plants, pollinators, or birds, and are led by Garden experts.
