Over the years, Inside Wine Santa Barbara has lived up to its name by finding "insider's" winemakers who haven't made it big time yet, but are destined to do so! Join us on Saturday May 13th for a very special "Vineyard 101" lesson on terroir with a winemaker who is also a 3rd generation vineyard manager. We'll examine the fossil-filled soil, understand how topography and climate interact in characterizing terroir, hear which factors are important in establishing and successfully maintaining a vineyard. This educational experience is followed with a picnic and wine tasting.
The Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara will hold its annual show, sale and demonstrations Saturday and Sunday May 13 and 14 in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity Lutheran Church, 909 La Cumbre Road at the corner of Foothill Road. Admission is free and open to all who may be interested. Saturday and Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a professional show of Club Member’s trees in a variety of styles. There will also be a sales area for trees, pots, tools and other related bonsai items, as well as a silent auction for special items. Bonsai demonstrations will be held on both days at 1 p.m.
Club members will be available to answer questions on the art of bonsai and there will be a free bonsai problem clinic. Attendees are welcome to bring in trees for advice. A beginning workshop will be held in early June and attendees can get further information and sign up at the show.

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in this hands-on informal workshop with SBMA Teaching Artists. Each month explore a different medium—clay, metal, ink, wood, photography, paper—inspired by works of art in the Museum’s collection or special exhibitions. In May, create a pinch pot from air dry clay. Draw animals and patterns into the clay, then finish with a watercolor wash, inspired by "Shallow Bowl with Pipal Leaves Fish Motif" (3500 -2500 BCE).
