Join the Goleta Education Foundation (GEF) for the return of its annual Lemon Run to be held once again at Goleta Beach Park on Sunday, September 17. Beginning at 8:00 am with the 10K Grand Prix, followed by the 5K Jr. Grand Prix at 9:15 am and the 1K Fun Run at 10:15 am, the Lemon Run is a community event for all ages and abilities. This six-week, after-school class teaches the basic techniques of throwing pottery at the wheel in a fun and relaxed environment. Students learn to make simple clay forms and experiment with surface decoration and glazing techniques, inspired by depictions of animals crossing cultures and time in the Museum’s collection. All materials and firings are included.

As part of its monthly lecture series, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is pleased to present Disaster at Devil’s Jaw, a new film about the Naval disaster at Honda Point. The film screening will take place at SBMM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Producer and Director Lee Abbott will speak about the film, which is 115 minutes, while also sharing photographs and stories, and answering questions.
