Santa Barbara County firefighters are attacking a wind-driven brush fire just north of Los Alamos.
At 11:15 a.m. Friday, fire crews responded to the area of 7700 Highway 101 near Palmer Road and discovered a vegetation fire. It’s currently 2-4 acres burning light to moderate fuel with a rapid rate of spread due to heavy northern winds producing spot fires.
Named the “Deer Incident,” SBCFD issued a full vegetation fire response to include air tankers and three helicopters making water drops.
There are currently no structures threatened and no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
