Update by the edhat staff
Congratulations to edhat reader Marianne S. who won two VIP tickets to the Solstice Parade!
By the edhat staff
The 48th annual Solstice Parade will begin at Noon this Saturday at the intersection of Ortega and Santa Barbara Streets. It will travel on Santa Barbara Street, as opposed to the traditional State Street route due to outdoor dining and parklets. It will end at the Solstice Festival at Alameda park.
The best way to see the parade is through VIP SEATING! It includes a shaded area, water, and a snack. Seats will be on either side of De La Guerra and Santa Barbara Streets. This year edhat has 2 VIP SEATS ready to give away to one lucky reader. Simply email us at info@edhat.com by Thursday (June 23) at 5:00 p.m. for a chance to win. The winner will be contacted on Friday morning.
Currently, VIP Seating is sold out so the only way to get it is by entering our contest! Although additional seats may become available. To get on the waiting list contact Penny at artstaff@solsticeparade.com.
The two-day Festival kicks off Friday, June 24, from 4 to 9 p.m. and continues Saturday, June 25, from noon to 9 p.m., with live music from local favorites to internationally known artists, arts and crafts vendors, a beer and wine garden, and food vendors.
The musical extravaganza features a lineup of local and regional artists and DJ’s. Friday’s lineup features one of the hottest bands in Santa Barbara, Glenn Annie – an eclectic mix of rock, reggae, world, soul and Latin music. Saturday’s lineup on the main stage kicks off with a selection of local DJs: DJ Macintyre, Audiopool, and international stars, Traveler, and Paper Idol. The main stage closes out Saturday evening with local favorite bands, Noble Grizwald, Uncle Uncle, and Santa Barbara’s Grooveshine with funk, reggae, hip hop and world rhythms into upbeat songs with positive lyrics. GrooveShine live performances are highly energetic and entertaining with a variety of featured vocalists; keeping shows unique, engaging and unpredictable.

Festival Opening Night – Friday, June 24th, 4- 9 PM
Featuring:
4:15pm – 4:45pm Queentide, a group of Santa Barbara musicians who dip into salty grunge-rock with a fresh, indie twist. Distorted guitar riffs, indulgent bass lines, and dynamic, crisp percussions pull you down for a 90’s rock resurgence. Silky vocals and triple-femme harmonies bring you back up for air.
5:00pm – 5:30pm Mashugana an indie soul band with a fun and unique style and smooth, soothing singing that draws you in paired with jazz-influenced rock-style guitar that keeps you moving.
5:45pm – 6:15pm The Framers a popular local Alt. Indie Rock group with original hit songs “Lemonade”, “You See Smart Blondes”, and “Uncertain”.
6:30pm – 7:30pm Glenn Annie a Santa Barbara favorite with an eclectic sound that is freshly tailored and sprinkled with melodic sing-songs to groove-driven dancing tunes.
7:45pm – 8:45pm Rey Fresco on their comeback tour, bringing their diverse and original sound of eclectic rock, reggae, world, soul and Latin music.
Saturday, June 25th, 12- 9 PM
Featuring:
12:00pm – 12:45pm D.J. Macintyre is a champion of progressive electronic music in its varied forms. His stylistic electronic productions have received acclaim from some of the world’s most prominent djs.
1:00pm – 2:15pm Audiopool, a musician dedicated to playing emotional, “heart forward”, Deep House music that takes you on a journey through the human experience, in an atmosphere of encouragement and inspiration.
2:30pm – 3:45pm Paper Idol is the genre-bending pop project of LA-based artist and auteur Matan KG. The music weaves dance music and alternative into “something unique and utterly disarming” (Beats per Minute), with storytelling that blurs the line between reality and fantasy, optimism and delusion. Paper Idol has released a long string of singles and 2 EP’s, which have amassed over 35 million streams across platforms and secured coveted placements on Spotify editorial playlists.
4:00pm – 5:15pm Traveler has been extensively touring the world and promoting his blend of Psychedelic Vapor Wave ™. Throughout his ever-changing sonic adventure, he seeks to combine the psychedelic bass driven elements of the underground with chord progressions, melodies and vocals.
5:30pm – 6:30pm Noble Grizwald is local band with a unique sound that blends festival rock & psychedelic dance/pop. They disrupted the music scene with their unique musical blend and quickly grew into one of the break out acts in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
6:45pm – 7:45pm Uncle Uncle is a folk-rock band, arriving to us fresh from wrapping up their first tour of 2022. Their sound is a mélange of beach vibes influenced by the musical stylings of Neil Young, Parquet Courts, and Bob Dylan. They have released three EPs thus far and will drop a full-length album at the end of this summer.
8:00pm – 9:00pm GrooveShine will wrap up the festival with their funk, reggae, hip hop and world rhythms in a highly unique energetic, engaging and entertaining performance that will send you home with a bounce in your step.
Why would you take the time to type that comment and then hit reply?
On a “lighter note”, upon dutifully composing my email to info@edhat.com, I came back here to actually READ the sentence: ” This year edhat has 2 VIP SEATS ready to give away to one lucky reader. “. So I guess that means a single person is expected to be able to bring someone else to this experience, so if I win I’m bringing Roger if I can get him out of his funk. (Assuming I can talk him into it, and we all know what a “assumption” means, as I quoted from Mr. Jackson’s character, in the [monday] Hit and Run Death Near La Cumbre article).
Like I have any chance of any of the above happening anyhoo?
A DownVote? I DEMAND to know who/what/why?!! Otherwise “and I won’t write a single comment on EdHat for the rest of the month..”(we now see how well that one went!) I didn’t include the text of my email to info@edhat.com (to many pictures & humor attempts), Hoping everyone is having a Fantastic Day!
Thanks to Sacjon & Nostra for the positive thoughts!
