What in the heck is going on with gas prices?
I drove by the Mobil station at Mission and Castillo and one gallon of unleaded is $6.69!! Some areas are over $7/gal.
What the heck?

As they do every opportunity, the CA refiners schedule “maintenance” or experience an “outage” or such when it is time to change from summer formula to winter formula or back again. Since they produce the CA product they know that for a few weeks at least no other product can be used in the state and they create an artificial shortage that they claim means they have to raise the price to reduce demand. CA gas costs about $2 gallon more than other states but the actual cost of producing it is about 85 cents/gal. And so on.
