I found these utility paint markings in the 1000 block of Las Alturas Road in Santa Barbara.
What does this mean? Will the city tell the residence what is happening? When will the construction, if any, take place?

They indicate two gas lines run beneath your feet.
One is a 3″ transmission line that serves the neighborhood and the other is a 3/4 transmission line to a residence
Yellow paint indicates gas
These markings don’t tell any story of what type of construction is intended
If there are white markings in the area, they can give a general idea of where digging may occur.
Yellow =Gas
Red = High Voltage
Orange = Phone/Cable
Green = Sewer Main
Blue = Water
SC Gas will mark some of its larger lines even if there is no digging scheduled. There are large 14″ -16″ transmission lines that run through the foothills that have posts marking the route and painted lines that are periodically refreshed to be safe.
They did this outside our house when we had our sewer lateral done to show where the gas lines are.
