Way Back When: A “Betsy” Movie Comes to Santa Barbara

Ya gotta love it when you find a movie with your name on it, eh? “Betsy’s Burglar” was playing at the Mission Theatre on State Street in April 1917.

You can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that, alas, this is one of the many silent films that are considered lost. I was able to find an ad for the movie in the local paper, but that was it.

Betsy’s Way Back When book — 1919 — is now available in local bookstores and at Amazon.com. This is the sixth book in her series of the history of Santa Barbara, one year at a time. Learn more at betsyjgreen.com
