Wanted Subject Arrested After Foot Pursuit in Solvang

Source: Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office

At approximately 3:04 p.m. today, Sheriff’s Deputies in Solvang conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle in the area of Willow Drive and First Street in Solvang. Immediately after the vehicle pulled over, the driver ran from deputies and jumped the fences of nearby residences. When the suspect ran, he dropped his wallet that contained his driver’s license. That license was used to identify him as 33-year-old Michael Ibison of Los Alamos.

A records check of Ibison found that he had two outstanding warrants; the first was $10,000 bail for a failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia, and the second was a felony no bail warrant for violation of probation for possession of ammunition by a prohibited person with an enhancement for violent felons.

County Air Support along with two Sheriff’s K9 units responded to assist with the search.  Witness assisted deputies and provided deputies with the location the suspect entered the riverbed. The K9  units tracked the suspect into a wooded thicket in the riverbed where he was located and taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was armed with a large fix blade knife at the time of his arrest and drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located in the vehicle.
