By Tim the Tour Guide
For the past three years, I’ve been working with various tour guide organizations (DMCs) taking people to wineries, restaurants, horse back riding, Jeep excursions, and to points of interest in Santa Barbara and Montecito.
Last Thursday I accompanied a group out of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa to go deep sea fishing with Channel Islands Sportfishing off both sides of the Anacapa Island.
It was so beautiful Thursday morning after the late night rain Wednesday night. I wanted to share some photos as I was blown away by the Island’s natural beauty.
How was the fishing?
Someone scored a gaffable halibut!
Beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing them.
Fishing was great! Mostly catch and release.
Even with good intentions (I do wish people could enjoy the ocean without having to kill its inhabitants):
The wild wriggling and squirming fish do when they’re hooked and pulled from the water during catch-and-release fishing isn’t just an automatic response—it’s a conscious reaction to the pain they feel when a hook pierces their lips, jaws, or body.
We barely see little Anacapa from our ranch up in Gaviota and it has always been mysterious to me. These photos are spectacular and a wonderful glimpse of the magic beauty out there. What a special day you had!
