The Coroner’s Bureau is releasing the name of the decedent from the vehicle accident on May 2, 2022 in the area of Philbric and East Betteravia Road in Santa Maria. The decedent is 44-year-old Alberto Gonzalez-Lopez of Santa Maria.
Fatal Traffic Collision Involving Semi-Truck in Santa Maria

One person died Monday morning in a traffic collision that involved a semi-truck in Santa Maria.
At 6:35 a.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to E. Betteravia Road and Philbric Road in the Santa Maria Valley and discovered a semi-truck had collided with a sedan.
The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries while there was one fatality and one non-life-threatening injury in the sedan.
The collision also caused a fuel leak and power lines to crash down.
The incident is under investigation.
