Victim Identified in Fatal Christmas Day Collision in Santa Maria

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff Coroner’s Bureau is identifying the victim from the fatal traffic collision on December 25, 2023, on W. Main near Simas Road in Santa Maria.

The victim is identified as 65-year-old Gregorio Dominguez of Guadalupe.

The other party involved in the crash has been identified as Bladimir Agustin-Chavez, 27, of Santa Maria and has been arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence, according to KSBY.

One person died in a head-on traffic collision on Highway 166 early Christmas Day.

At 1:38 a.m. Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the area approximately one mile west of Bonita School Road in Santa Maria.

Two cars were involved in the collision. The driver of one vehicle was pronounced at the scene while the driver of the second vehicle sustained a minor injury and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance, reports County Fire Captain Scott Safechuck.

Both drivers required extrication from their vehicles.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
