Vehicle Fire Spreads to Nearby Hillside in Montecito

At 10:17 Saturday morning, Montecito firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle on fire at the intersection of Coyote Road and Mountain Drive.

Firefighters first on scene found a Dodge Ram 3500 on fire. The driver safely evacuated and was not injured.

The fire started in the truck’s engine compartment. Flames spread to nearby brush and burned a 10’x10’ spot. Firefighters knocked down the fire within 10 minutes.

Firefighters remained on scene mopping up for about an hour. One lane of Mountain Drive is open and CHP – Santa Barbara [was] on scene to ensure traffic safety.
