New Website Update!
As you can see we have officially launched our updated website!
While this launch hasn’t gone as smooth as we would have liked, we’re finally at the last stretch of things. It’s about 90% done with the final 10% being a few small things to iron out. Thank you all for being understanding as we navigate the tumultuous world of tech.
You might receive an email with a reminder to reset your password on this new platform. That’s the only thing you’ll have to do and it’s for your own security. We understand a few readers are having trouble changing their passwords so please reach out to us so we can help.
Overall we understand that change can be hard, but rest assured most things are the same with a slightly different look. If you’re still having a hard time adjusting, email us at info@edhat.com. We’re happy to hold your hand through it.
Thank you everyone for your patience while we work as fast as we can to fix the minor issues.
Hello readers! I’m happy to announce some exciting developments for your local community resource. We’ve been working for a long time on an updated website that fixes a number of bugs, and adds some new fun options for all of you to engage with community members.
Some of you may have been noticing a few glitches on our current website this month while we go through this transition. I wholeheartedly thank you all for your patience while we work to get these sorted. Our edhat tech team has been working diligently and hopes to have the updated website launched early next week.
While the new website might look a tad different, the functionality is still the same. You’ll be able to read the latest local news, comment on stories, check out upcoming events, and more. The only adjustment is you’ll be required to create a new password when you first login to your account.
Again, thank you for your patience and all the amazing love of edhat. We truly couldn’t keep this site up and running without your support.
Please email us at info@edhat.com with any questions you may have.
Looking forward to exciting things ahead,
Lauren

Be the change you wish to see in the world, SAC. Fight the urge to expand the comments 🤣
Exciting! Looking forward to it!
Oh, I just got chills!
One thing I wish you would do is reconsider placement of the large video ads on the lower right corner of the screen that reappear with every click. They are very distracting as well as covering part of the content. Otherwise, I love Edhat.
We totally understand, they’re annoying, but they do help to fund the site. We will be looking into different advertising options in the next few months.

Of course I understand Edhat’s need for revenue, but I object that these ads cover the content. Can they be reconfigured or relocated?
Happy to chat with you more about it, email at info@edhat.com.
Will this fix the issue of comment submissions not always registering to the user, resulting in them pressing send over and over, posting the same comment? This has been broken since the last “redesign” many years ago.
Yes this is one of the many glitches that led us towards the update.

Thanks for your work Lauren and all other edhat workers.
If more of us paid for subscriptions, edhat would do even better.
Thanks for the update, Lauren! Edhat rules!
good news!
Word of “Caution” -> when “Resetting” you’re “New password” pay close attention to the “username” (?) field as it seems that currently it’s populated by YOUR actual name?
Yeah, I saw that too! Is there a way to get rid of the video pop up ad? I was hoping some of these ads would disappear, but I understand the need for advertising.
really? That’s weird
I think it looks cool! I really like the way the replies are set up. This way, not only can you see what comment the replies are to, but if you see someone whose comment and subsequent replies might not be your cup of tea, you can leave it collapsed and not be bothered by rants…. hint hint LOL!
It’s awesome!! Very cool. If we notice technical issues here and there, do you want us to email them to you? Or wait awhile until the major kinks are worked out?
Send us an email with anything you notice or experience just so we can be sure it’s on our list, info@edhat.com. Thanks for the help!
LOL never! I yam what I yam, just like Popeye!
Have you also updated the policy on deleted comments? I notice they now appear in the “deleted” area briefly, then are completely gone. Not particularly transparent moderation.
Did the new launch scare folks away? I think some people would really benefit from the easy reply function. The new site takes some getting used to, but it’s pretty cool once you get the hang of it!
I agree 100%. #1 reason I rarely check edhat anymore…
@m2457, you must be pretty limited in your website visits if you can’t tolerate annoying people on the internet LOL
m2457 – I’m the #1 reason you don’t read local news anymore? Hey, just an idea, but you CAN read the articles and decide not to read the comments, especially if my name is on them. Just a tip 🙂
I’ve found it confusing, but I’ll admit that I have been busy and haven’t had time to explore as much as I would like. I’m posting this to see if my real name appears or my edhat moniker. The “Hey Friend, Before You Leave…” dog is cute, but annoying. Just my 2 cents.
I agree about the “before you leave” message!
If it makes the message box go away, I’ll sign up and just delete the email daily.
Oh I read the local news, you are just annoying on a daily basis! I am sure I am not the only person that feels this way. To anonymous, I read multiple websites and can easily handle the comments, Sacjon just hijacks this page too often with his on going arguing with others. It is old! Yes, scroll is my friend.
I do like how the penalty box now shows all deleted comments rather than just per article. It will really show who the frequent flyers are.
Yeah, I bet. We’ll see you there!
