I’m curious if anyone has tried one of the new UCLA Health clinics in town.
I haven’t yet but people I’ve chatted with have nothing but great things to say, especially about the open appointment availability and time with the doctor. Not a bad option to give some competition with our local clinics that seem to be overwhelmed, espcially in the women’s health sector. What are edhat readers’ experiences?
Nothing but glowing reviews from me! Excellent providers and no problems being seen in a reasonable time frame. They provide appropriate specialty care referrals, some on-site, or within their system. I hope they add another clinic in Santa Barbara or Goleta soon. The only issue you might find is navigating their website, which seems to redirect to the Los Angeles area clinics and services. But the telephone works. 😉
I’ve had only very positive experiences as well, especially compared with Sansum, which has lousy customer service and operations in general compared to other places I’ve been.
Now this, I can agree with you on.
I’ve been going to the UCLA clinic in Montecito. Dr. Scott is my physician there. I’ve had nothing but good experiences. I seem to be able to get appointments quickly although most of my visits have been scheduled out a little further because they weren’t urgent and I needed to accomodate my work and travel schedules.
I agree with PORKRIND. There is a lot of availability and my experience was positive with the physician.
I can highly recommend Dr Sharam Shafi who was recruited out of NYC to come to work the UCLA Montecito clinic and now runs the Goleta one. When I tried to switch my Primary Care Provider at Sansum I was given an appointment in 18 MONTHS, and this was with a doctor listed as taking new patients. So instead I called the UCLA Montecito clinic and got in the same week. Their website allows you to make or change appointments online, without having to call in, which is a big improvement over Sansum. And since Sansum has sold to Sutter Health my doctor friends warn me to expect cost-cutting measures there that will make it even more inefficient.
I tried UCLA Medical Center Montecito. They can take walk-in appointments. My doctor left and it’s been hard since then. When I need continued prescriptions no doctor has taken up the slack. They are short doctors and use Cottage doctors to fill in. For years I had both western and eastern medicine doctors. The doctor who left was fine with it. The replacement UCLA doctors don’t understand it, don’t understand my supplements regime.
UCLA is not working out for me. For over a week they couldn’t get an existing prescription transferred to a different pharmacy. Frustrating.
