Two Semi-Trucks Collide Near Santa Maria Bringing Highway 101 to One Lane

Two semi-trucks collided near Santa Maria bringing Highway 101 down to one lane on Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:15 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a semi-truck off the roadway on Highway 101 southbound, approximately one mile south of the Clark Avenue offramp.

CHP described one of the semi-trucks as a 53-foot trailer loaded with a 10,000 pound tractor that jackknifed in the roadway.

Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to the scene and reported the driver of the blakc semi-truck required extrication and sustained minor injuries. They were transported by ground ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the second semi was not injured.

There’s heavy traffic in the area as the southbound direction has only one lane open.

CHP will be investigating the incident.
