Santa Barbara County Public Health officials confirmed two additional cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) during a press conference Wednesday. This brings the total number of positive cases to 26 within the county.
For the first time, the Public Health Department (PHD) released the cities where the confirmed cases are located. Officials previously cited patient privacy and refused to release data other than general age ranges and north or south county locations.
Currently, there are 6 cases in Santa Maria, 5 cases in Orcutt, 10 cases in Santa Barbara, and 5 cases in the Montecito/Summerland/Carpinteria area. There are no confirmed cases in Goleta.
The 8 latest cases announced on Tuesday and Wednesday are as follows:

Based on the numbers and demographics provided, ages 18 – 39 make up 35%, ages 40-60 make up 61%, and ages 70+ are 4%.
Of the total 26 confirmed cases, 19 are recovering at home, 1 is hospitalized, and 6 have fully recovered.
PHD is conducting an investigation to determine how each individual contracted COVID-19 as well as identifying persons with whom they may have had close contact. However, the majority of cases are believed to be through community transmission.
Officials believe there are many more cases out there and stressed yet again the importance for residents in all areas of the county to stay home and practice social distancing when performing essential tasks outside their home.
Santa Barbara County Animal Services had good news to report. Since the self-isolation orders there have been 50 animal adoptions in the three shelter sites as well as 47 of the 77 adoptable dogs are with a foster family.

About damn time the locations were made public. What took them so long? Locations = people scared = stay the f#$ home! Isn’t this what we need?
And, I totally agree with KRUPPE , and I’ve been complaining about that since the beginning !!! Santa Barbara finally caught up with Ventura, which has been listing the cases per City, for weeks. This is critical information. Thank you City of SB for finally getting with the program.
Correction::::Actually, SB is almost there…. They still don’t have the breakdown for South County… south of SB, Summerland, Carpinteria or Montecito …. I just don’t see any good reason, not to do the breakdowns by City….
Great interactive graphic on the BBC (but sourced from Johns Hopkins), showing the number of confirmed cases by day from 18 February to the present: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52033863
Especially since they stated the cases are believed to be community transmitted. Doesn’t that mean through an infected surface and not person to person such as a family member? It is not surprising they lumped Montecito, Summerland and Carp together. It probably means they are in Montecito. They never publish unpleasant news about Montecito…
PUG -do you know that person? No. Shhh.
Literally what could be safer besides sitting in your house? Get a grip.
One hospitalization in the county and we’re already running low on supplies? I’m all for being safe out there but I get the feeling we’re taking this a little too far.
