Tuesday Night’s SpaceX Starlink Launch a Success

On Tuesday 10:40 p.m., the Falcon 9 rocket launched 46 new Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

This was the 7th flight for this Falcon 9 first stage booster, which previously launched Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, DART, and now five Starlink missions. This was SpaceX’s sixth launch this month.

SpaceX is targeting Tuesday, August 30 for a Falcon 9 launch of 46 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The instantaneous launch window is at 10:40 p.m. PT and a backup opportunity is available on Wednesday, August 31 at 10:40 p.m. PT.

The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, DART, and four Starlink missions. Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage will return to Earth and land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff.

SpaceX is planning another rocket launch of Starlink satellites on Friday evening.

A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch at 10:30 p.m. on August 26 from Vandenberg Space Force Base sending more Starlink satellites into orbit.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation providing satellite Internet access coverage to 34 countries. It aims for global coverage.

If conditions allow, the launch may be visible from Santa Barbara in the southern direction.
