Hearing of a lot of random fires throughout town. About 10:45a off Hwy 101 south at Los Carneros, report of trees on fire. Then shortly after Sheriff Deputies en-route to a homeless camp fire off Patterson.
Earlier this morning also heard of a subject lighting things on fire near 21 E. Carrillo Street downtown. And another person causing some ruckus at the Santa Cruz Market on W. Montecito Street involving a fire attempt of some kind. Both sound like mental health issues.
These fires aren’t warming fires. They’re insane-fires, angry-fires and substance-impaired or stupid-fires.
And to think that a local judge overturned the Sit and Lie Ordinance here in SB. It’s on the SB Independent. We are now back in trouble with the homeless on the sidewalks over on Milpas St., and all over SB. And SB is known and called the “American Riviera”. Yeah! For the homeless it’s their “American Riviera”! Not ours nor for the touristas! “TOURISTAS GO HOME!!!!”
GIMLI – we had/have a severe homeless problem even with the (usually unenforced) “Sit and Lie ordinance,” so don’t worry too much about it getting worse.
LUVADUCK – These are human beings (whether you think so or not) and the winter fires are usually exactly that – warming fires. It can get in the 30s here at night. I’d say have some compassion, but I know the answer to that one…..
