The abandonment (capping) of Treadwell 1 and 5 was completed on September 1, 2023.
HTO’s geological study of the Summerland ocean bed is now moving forward with an examination of what has been observed with this recent project. In particular the geological study team, which includes Ira Leifer of Bubbleology Research Institute and HTO Program Director Harry Rabin, is assessing what they have learned during the abandonment of Treadwell 5.
HTO believes this information will be valuable moving forward.
As the Treadwell 1&5 project got underway, the Summerland Citizen’s Association assembled a public/media event at Lookout Park, Summerland, during which SLC Petroleum Production Engineer Walter Scott, joined HTO Project Director Harry Rabin and HTO Executive Director Hillary Hauser to give the gathered crowed information about the well capping program, and specific information about the capping of Treadwell 1 & 5.
