Update by Geo Duarte
The collision occurred as a rented blue Honda sedan made a left on to the Northbound 101 on-ramp on Turnpike. The two passenger Honda was struck on the right hand side by a bit older blue Honda Civic. (That car appears ‘red’ in the photos due to the overbearing fluorescence of the red emergency and street lights.)
The right hand side airbags deployed on the two passenger Honda and the male passenger was transported to Cottage Hospital. The driver, a female, was also taken in the same ambulance due to leg pain. The solo-driver of the other Honda traveling toward Hollister Ave. appeared unharmed.
Even though, ‘technically’ the collision happened on County jurisdiction, the CHP responded with three units. The investigation is on-going and no one appeared to be seriously injured.
Both patients erred on the side of caution and accepted care and were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for further evaluation.
