Three Sheriff’s Employees Test Positive for COVID-19

A civilian staff member who is assigned to the Main Jail has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was tested as part of the sweeping staff testing on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 and worked until the following morning in a role that does not require direct inmate contact. The staff member has been on regular days off since Wednesday and received results from the COVID-19 test this morning.
This brings the total number of Sheriff’s Office employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 to 36, with 25 having recovered and returned to work. Staff that continue to recover at home include 5 custody deputies, 4 civilian staff and 2 sheriff’s deputies.

A deputy and custody deputy have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3 custody staff have been cleared to return to work. The deputy who tested positive for COVID-19 became ill while on vacation, was tested and did not return to work. This exposure does not appear to be work related.
The custody deputy was tested on Thursday, July 16, 2020 as part of the sweeping tests of custody staff. The custody deputy was in an administrative role, did not have contact with inmates, and did not returned to work after testing on Thursday.
The staff that have been cleared to return are 2 custody deputies and 1 civilian staff.
This brings the total number of Sheriff’s Office employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 to 35, with 25 returned to work. Staff that continue to recover at home include 5 custody deputies, 3 professional staff and 2 deputies.
