Santa Barbara local, Maureen Sullivan, wrote this dark comedy sketch to play with vanity and aging. If you’re over 50, this may have happened to you before. Enjoy!
Filmed at Cantwell’s Market & Deli in Santa Barbara.
Written, produced, & directed by Maureen Sullivan.
Filmed & edited by Brian Peddicord.
Starring Maureen Sullivan as The Vanity Vigilante, Glenn Landon as Kirby, and Marissa Pasquini-Ybarra as the Woman Buying Wine.
Production Assistance by Jaynee Goddard.
If it had been written by a man, I might complain. Since it was written by a woman, I assume she’s just poking fun at her peers.
Patrick, you are being generous to a fault. And why would be be objectionable if written by a man? This is sexist by definition.
Absurd if this is for serious purposes. If satire it is also bad as it stereotypes women as overly concerned with the appearance and youth. It also justifies kidnapping and corporal punishment to accomplish an “educational” goal. Really sick.
12:48 – I didn’t claim it was comedy, the ARTICLE did – “wrote this dark comedy sketch”
You need to get outside and get a breath of fresh air.
10:12 – It’s a comedy sketch. Ease up.
Sacjon, odd thing to claim this is a comedy. A simple everyday business moment becomes the “humorous” event of returning hours later to stalk, kidnap, bind and indoctrinate by force. (Maybe the Chinese are doing such funny things to the Uigars and the West just doesn’t get it?) To say nothing of dissing a practice (discount for older people) intended to help.
Geez it’s a funny video created by a comedian, relax everyone.
That was great! Kirby obviously had something important to learn there.
And what was Kirby to learn? That is is impolite to offer a discount to save customers money? That it is impolite to suggest that a female is over a certain age? Or maybe that “hell has no fury like a woman scorned {even if in her own mind]”?
Amen, Sacjon!
