On Tuesday, November 30th, shortly after 10:00 PM, Santa Maria Police Department began receiving several calls regarding shots heard in the area. Callers reporting hearing multiple gunshots and someone yelling for help around the area of 200 West Newlove.
Officers arrived on scene, where they located an 18-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where his condition was unknown. SMPD Officers and the Crime Lab remained on scene processing and collecting evidence.
Six days prior, SMPD investigated a separate shooting on the 1600 block of North Western Avenue where an adult male victim was taken to the hospital. There is no indication the crimes are related at this time.
