Sycamore Canyon Road Closed Due to Gas Leak and Traffic Collision

A traffic collision on Sycamore Canyon Road (SR-192) in Montecito caused a gas leak prompting a road closure this [Monday] morning.

Around 3:15 a.m. on this New Year’s Day, CHP reported a vehicle going off the roadway. Montecito Fire responded to the scene and discovered the crash had caused a broken gas line.

The vehicle had to be removed to access the gas line, but the towing truck still had an eta of over an hour. Caltrans initiated a hard closure at SR-192 and Oak Springs Lane surrounding the crash.

CHP was still waiting for a tow truck as of 7:15 a.m.

As of 8:00 a.m. there is no estimated time of reopening. Road info can be found here: QuickMap.dot.ca.gov

UPDATE: All lanes have reopened as of 9:00 a.m.
