A traffic enforcement stop has resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 20 catalytic converters.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a deputy on proactive patrol conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle leaving the Isla Vista area, near Los Carneros Road and Castilian.
As a result of the stop, deputies found 20 catalytic converters inside the vehicle along with a floor jack and an impact drill. Deputies arrested both occupants of the vehicle, 25-year-old Arman Abrahamyan from Van Nuys and 27-year-old Levon Martirosyan from Glendale for grand theft (felony), possession of burglary tools (misdemeanor), possession of stolen property (felony), and conspiracy (felony).
Both suspects are being held at the Main Jail on $20,000 bail.
Deputies from the Isla Vista Foot Patrol and Goleta Patrol have taken several reports for thefts of catalytic converters throughout the day on Tuesday.
Victims who have not yet reported their catalytic converter as stolen can use the online reporting portal at SBSheriff.org or contact Sheriff’s Dispatch at 805-683-2724.
Wanna fix this problem? Automatic life in prison
Remind me who dies when a catalytic converter is stolen? Oh, no one? Hmm.
Con: Are you and your fellow cons willing to pay more taxes for all the extra prison space, guards, court costs, and other expenses this would entail? Or is this just an extension of the conservative rhetorical (as opposed to constructive or practical) campaign against homelessness? Which basically consists of pointing fingers and wanting to appear tough without doing much of anything. I used to work in law enforcement and most con views on the field are some of the most infantile and mean-spirited verbal diarrhea I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across in the swamp we call our political system. Me like guns, me punish bad guys. Ooga Booga.
Most likely these criminals will be let go and not charged. The liberal DA will apologize for them being inconvenienced and profiled for a traffic stop. They will be told where they can get more government hand outs and which Democrats to vote for in the upcoming election.
Some people really do live in a sad fantasy land.
SBLOCAL – once again, it’s such a relief that everything you’re worried about will not happen. Whew!
The middle-range answer is “yes, hands of thieves are cut off in countries like Saudi Arabia (and a few others) where SHaria law is followed” and the long answer is that “anywhere that sharia law is followed as the criminal law, hands of thieves will be cut off. Bet these guys are glad they are here stealing our things.
Yup. Need Sharia law on these type of criminals in all 50 states. Cut their right hands off and 50 lashes in public. Food Vendors would make a killing on selling Tacos, Burritos, Nachos, Burgers, Fries, Hot Dogs, Soft Drinks and Snacks during the public lashings. Also would be a very good lesson for the kids “Not to Become Criminals” when they become older.
“Cut their right hands off and 50 lashes in public”
I was thinking of 20 spankings, one for each converter. Of course, they should be spanked with the actual converter instead of a paddle.
5:13 pm: Try to drive six blocks without violating some CA Vehicle Code law. It seems highly likely that these deputies were suspicious of the vehicle’s presence on the road in IV at that hour and found an excuse for the stop. (Such as failing to signal for a lane change, license plate light out, license plate obscured, etc..)
Better yet, try to comply with the vehicle code. Those regulations exist for a reason.
