An individual who may be a transient in the Isla Vista area for some unknown motive began throwing rocks at a local bank building in the Isla Vista community on Saturday afternoon.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s we’re unable to immediately apprehend this known suspect, as he ran from the Chase Bank at the corner of Pardall and Embarcadero del Norte.
Yet, enough witnesses and video footage will aide in documenting the damaging vandalism of the double pained windows and alleged repeated lawlessness by this suspect.
What a bizarre story. “Suspected transient”?? As though that is a class of criminality. Someone, probably with a mental health issue, acted out. This should not be thought of as a behavior by “transients” even if many unhoused people are suffering. The problem to be addressed is the psychiatric one, not the living condition.
Luvaduck, the issue is separate from his behavior. It has to do with the media treating/classifying people who are “transient” as suspicious. Would the report say that a suspected “homeowner” acted out?
What do you propose they say instead? Alleged Drunk or Possibly Mentally Ill Person… If you have a better solution give it instead of constantly criticizing.
What I propose is equity. Labeling people is a simplistic solution that leads to no good. Would you applaud a “news” story that labeled the arrested person as a Black or Italian or Polish human. Treat the individual with respect.
The article said they recogtnized the guy, so they know his resident status. While you may be right about him being a mental case, the two are separate issues except for contacting him when he repeatedly “acts out”.
I agree, RHS. I think Geo tends to add way to much personal flair to these reports, lots of speculations and unfair opinions/unfounded info. It’s not cool. Everything heard on the scanner does NOT need to be jazzed up and immortalized on the internet.

Several windows, several videos, many witnesses, badly written headlines, only the facts mam. Only the facts.
The title was not written by Geo. Not sure why a known transient damaged the windows of the I.V. bank branch. “Only the facts man!” There is plenty of video of Omar going loco on that day. Many witnesses and videos verified the story. Don’t attack the messenger, be objective like the body of the story. The title was seperately generated by the news outlet.
Perhaps he thought that it is still 1970.

I was not even born, Oh dear, we can be certain of one thing, this guy had no ideology or any logic. He was a straight fool trying to rule like a mule!
