Survey Offers Opportunity for Community Input into Uses for Grant Funding

As the City of Santa Barbara begins to plan for its Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2025, the City is seeking the input of our community partners, stakeholders and residents as we prioritize the potential uses for CDBG funding in the fiscal year 2025.
Each year the City of Santa Barbara receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are intended to primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents in the community. The funding can be used for homelessness, housing, economic development, and community facilities and infrastructure.
The City seeks your input as we prioritize the potential uses for this funding in the fiscal year 2025. The deadline to complete the survey is September 15. Thank you for your participation!

La Ciudad de Santa Bárbara recibe anualmente fondos de Subvención en Bloque para el Desarrollo Comunitario (CDBG) del Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano (HUD) de los EE. UU. Estos fondos están destinados a beneficiar principalmente a los residentes de ingresos bajos y moderados de la comunidad. Yep, I agree – very specific/limited ideas presented there for spending our tax dollars. The “categories”/choices are pretty indistinct and vague when you run through the list and compare all.

They’re not going to provide each, specific project that they’re contemplating. It’s a good gauge of what type/category of projects you’d like your money going to. No more excuses.

And really? You expect them to run each and every proposal by you? Any idea how much time that would take (your precious tax dollars) to compile and distribute? Dude. Stop making more excuses to complain. They’ve provided a list of many different categories (with subcategories) of projects and have asked for your opinion. You can help or just sit there and complain. Seems obvious what you’ve chosen to do, on Every. Single. Article. here.

OK…. here you go folks who are constantly crying about how we spend grant money. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity!

Be aware, this is a HUD grant, thus the uses are specified and limited. You’ll see the categories when you fill it out.
The last “Choice” is “Other” with a space to input your choice… (can’t verify the actual wording as it now says “You have already taken this survey”, so much for attempting to be helpful – I tried)
Fun fact for the right-wing whiners on here: Dump’s HUD secretary Ben Carson spent more on office furniture and remodels than any one of these grants is worth. When asked about it, his office replied that “$5000 doesn’t even buy a decent office chair.” I’ll take a bit of bureaucracy over thieving idiots any day.
Here we go again with the “grants.” Just remember that “grants” are not free money. The “grants” are tax payer dollars that are taken by taxes and then doled out to some AFTER the bureaucrats get payed to take the taxes and dole out the free “grants.” It’s a great deal for the bureaucrats…
