Sunset Scenes

By John Wiley

Cruising above the hills to home, sunset scenes like these reminded us of how much beauty we enjoy here. Zaca Lake was receding into quiet shadows among the trees. The area around Figueroa Mountain had already faded from the recent blush of poppies, toward the brown of Summer. The water inlet at Cachuma had risen further above silent ripples to remind us of drought.

We’ve been shifting our yard to more desert plants, and trying to find some that offer color while needing no water and not promoting fire. Any suggestions?
