The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting the majority of Santa Barbara County will receive at least an inch of rain this week.

Santa Maria is expected to receive 1.34 inches, Lompoc 1.57 inches, just over two inches for Santa Ynez, and 2.69 inches for Santa Barbara. Cuyama will likely be spared from the majority of the rain this storm.

Rain is expected to arrive late Tuesday night and continue through Sunday. The heaviest amount of rain will be received Wednesday through Friday.

Multiple waves of rain are expected with a 70% chance of receiving 1-3 inches of rain in total. There’s potential for flooding and snow as low as 8,000 feet. Southerly winds will arrive this week as well with gusts between 30 and 50 mph.

NWS is reminding residents to clean out rain gutters, avoid flooded roads, stay up to day with any forecast changes, and make backup plans for outdoor activities.
