I went shopping for groceries and returned to my car to find the hand sanitizer on my front seat stolen. Has it really come to this? Has any else experienced anything like this?

people have been known to drink hand sanitizer for the alcohol content. so it may not be corona virus related.
“… drink hand sanitizer…”
Let’s see some verifiable substantiation of that comment. I say it’s made up hooey.
Not surprised. Shelves are bare and Costco runs out of hand sanitizer or toilet paper daily. We will see looting when the Coronavirus is more wide spread and the death rate climbs. There are simply too many older people in Santa Barbara compared to other areas. We will have a high incident of people contracting the Coronavirus. People will get desperate and go nuts. Can’t blame them. We live in scary times.
Wow, what a rude and *curmudgeonly* comment. There are far more tactful and graceful ways to encourage the author to exercise more care in locking their vehicle.
It doesn’t matter if their car was unlocked or window was open. You don’t take what is not yours. It is wrong to blame the victim.
I was re-watching the movie Contagion last night and it is eerily similar to the coronavirus. It’s Hollywood of course, so it’s over-dramatized and it gets almost apocalyptic at one point, but it does show desperate people looting homes and raiding supply camps for essentials. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
13MARINA – Of course it’s wrong to steal. But foolish carelessness on the part of the “victim” simply helps create a crime of opportunity for the low-life who does the stealing. Be sensible and lock up. Win-win. No crime and, thus, no victim.
They probably got 20 bucks for it…
And they can resell it for $90 – it has taken on mystical totem qualities, which are actually groundless. But strange times demand strange totems. Use to be crystals; not it is Purell.
Maybe instead of people being greedy and selfish, they will help each other. It does happen.
That’s lower than low. I was shopping yesterday and the thought ran thru my head that I shouldn’t leave my cart alone.
That is low…
I have a small sanitizer, in my car…visible..do lock my car.
Happy to say, was at CVS, today….both the pharmacy, and regular check out had huge bottles at the registers to use…not any to purchase….not seeing panic….
$$$ to doughnuts that bottle of sanitizer is where you left it NOT where you THOUGHT you left it.
Now that toiletries are worth the price of gold we can file police reports when they get stolen right? “Officer, somebody stole my roll, that was a 700.00 roll of charmin! My husband bought it for me for Valentine’s Day”.
Travel ban announced by the crazy man in the WH. People will be out getting their can goods, toilet paper and any hand sanitizer, Clorox or rubbing alcohol tonight and tomorrow. My question, when are were supposed to shelter in place.
Thank God we have such a wonderful proactive President ! Thank you President Trump !
I consider the EU ban a prudent decision.
The horse is OUT OF THE BARN. We should be sheltering in place NOW!
Lock your car when leave it to go in the store!
Why not the UK? Oh that’s right, he has a golf course there…..
Could have been worse. Could have been your 10 packages of 18 Super Mega Rolls of Charmin and your 5 cases of Dasani bottled water.
Since you didn’t say the window was smashed, we presume the car was left unlocked. Will there ever be an end to this kind of post!? We are unable to extend sympathy to careless stupidity.
No just greed on the part of some companies jacking their prices up on masks…
I’ll bet anything the car was unlocked or window down & hand sanitizer was in full sight. They sound like the type of person that may also leave the wallet & other valuables in plain sight. “You get what you pay for.”
As someone who never locks their car (but never really has anything in it to steal) I’m sorry to hear it!
Crazy times we’re living in where people are chastising people for not hiding their valuables (and said valuables are hand sanitizer).
Thank you, BOBBYK, for the giggle!
