Spirits of Fiesta

By Fritz Olenberger

As you know, the Spirit Audition originally scheduled for April was cancelled this year due to Covid-19, and the selection of the 2020 Spirit and Junior Spirit was made based on the performances at the preliminary audition back in January.

The preliminary audition was closed to pretty much everyone but a videographer and the participants, so I was unable to get photos of the participants dancing, as I have done for the past eight years. However, I did arrange last week for a photo shoot at the same venue (La Cumbre Jr. High) with the 2020 Spirit of Fiesta Alena Velasco and Jr. Spirit Alexandra Nocker, who agreed to wear their Flamenco dresses and dance without music.  Here are my photos.

Special thanks to Mr. Gary Smith for letting us use the theater and for setting up the stage lighting for us!
