SpaceX is targeting Thursday, October 27 for a Falcon 9 launch of 53 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base.
The instantaneous launch window is at 6:14 p.m. and a backup opportunity is available on Friday, October 28 at 5:52 p.m.
The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, DART, and five Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff, see it below.
Musk turned the car industry on its head and the space industry the same.
ArianeSpace knows they are done . Three years ago they were laughing and “explaining” that rocket retrieving would never work ..
Well, SpaceX did. Despite Musk.
6898 : Nice anti Musk trolling ! But WITHOUT Musk there would have been NO Space X and the country would still depend on RUSSIA to send astronauts to space.
That would be a terrific deal, right ?
Don’t forget there would be no Tesla either, which equates to over a million cars on the road on the US alone consuming how much more gasoline if it weren’t for Musk?
Tesla existed before Musk. He just bought his way in.
Musk is a figurehead and a problematic one at that. Telsa would be far better without him and all the scientists and engineers deserve the credit at SpaceX while Musk is too busy trolling people on Twitter.
@1001 and SBSurfer, and where exactly to get you get that impression? Did you get that from business school studying one of the numerous case studies on his accomplishments at SpaceX and Telsa, in your graduate level engineering classes? Or social media because he speaks him mind and sometimes goes against the “narrative”?
Hi Voice! (@10:01)
Problematic things Musk has said or done: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/04/elon-musk-twitter-terrible-things-hes-said-and-done
On top of the numerous allegations of fraud, disregard for laws and regulations, and employee mistreatment.
But I forgot he’s the new GOP hero so of course you’re commenting on it,.
@4653 :
Where ? The FACTS , are you denying that ? 1 space X launch every 6 days this year and Tesla producing at a current rate of close to 2 MILLION a year, while all the others are faltering.
Is that enough “where exactly” for you ?
Fondo, I think you mistook my post @8:30. SBSURFER, mostly petty stuff, bad jokes, expecting a lot from your employees, and push back against government overreach. Is there anyone who could uphold your standards? I’ll wait…
6:42 – If you were following along, you’d know they’re sending up thousands.
Gorgeous launch, fantastic landing, nobody has EVER done that and it’s all up to him to have developed, financed with his own funds the start of this incredible venture with the current exceptional success that his 150 or so launches have been.
And it is so pathetic to see how many “Edhaters” HATE the guy and spew their frustration on him.
Sore losers !
10:41, it’s more than “buffoonery.” He’s in business and not acting accordingly.
Search “musk fined by sec”
Who financed Tesla? We did. “ the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program provided Tesla with $465 million just six months before the company went public.”
Your point Jeff? Is it that money designed those rockets? Not the vision of its leaders and skill of hundreds of engineers? Money in incompetent hands doesn’t deliver results: Example: “California has spent $13 billion in the last three years to tackle a massive homelessness problem likely to worsen with the pandemic, yet its approach is so fragmented and incomplete as to hinder efforts at getting people into stable housing, the state auditor said in a report released Thursday.” https://apnews.com/article/california-coronavirus-pandemic-homelessness-dac338003e3f78986bc9369430cddd0b
Yeah, I’m a fan of early Musk–he should really stick to building cool stuff and founding awesome companies. His political buffoonery is not helping his brand and is depressing stock value and impacting my holdings.
I am not happy with him at all, ready to get out of my Tesla vehicles in the coming year.
Some who doesn’t mirror my political opinions = “political buffoonery” and boycotting their products/investing in their companies. From the part of tolerance…..
@ 1110 :
You’re absolutely right.
And we can add to the “raving success” of incompetent people all the wasted BILLIONS on the “fabulous” high speed SF-LA train !!
887–I can put my money where I want. The issue with Musk is that he is inextricably tied to Tesla–he has made it about him to the extent of tearing down his own past employees who were integral to the success of the company. I don’t like that. I also don’t like revelations over the past year about the work culture at Tesla. Do you really consider it “intolerant” to purchase brands that align with your values? So you don’t give any thought whatsoever into whose pocket you are putting money? Really? You are that devoid of morality? You out there buying Yeezy right now? Give me a break.
Don’t worry MEBK, the test for blowing up asteroids was a success and It’ll be awhile before all of that space debris comes reigning down on us.
Wow! Saw a portion of the launch from Magnolia Center….so incredible what one man and his company have done and continue to do. I could care less about his politics and same for anyone else doing great positive work as he has done. The technology is literally out of this world! Looks like he has finalized his deal with social media organization Twitter this week. It will be nice when Twitter gets back to its roots and get out of the censorship/political game. If he turns Twitter around, it will be a boon to all who only want to decide what to follow and/or believe.
