Officials have released the name of the woman who died in a triple fatal traffic collision on Highway 154 Friday afternoon.
Rebecca Vanessa Goss Bley, 34 of Solvang, and two children were killed after being struck by a vehicle that crossed over the double yellow lines near Cold Spring Bridge. The identities of the children have yet to be released, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
DNA samples, for comparison, will be sent to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office where a Rapid DNA System will be utilized to confirm the children’s identities.
Bley was an artist and musician, according to her website. She is best known as the frontwoman for haze-pop band Beast Patrol and the jazz-noir group Twin Danger. She was married to Max Gleason of Solvang with two young children. She performed as part of SoFar Sounds in Santa Barbara last December. A video of her performance can be found here.
Bley was driving a Chevy Volt that was struck by a black Camaro driven by John Roderick Dungan, 28-years-old of Santa Barbara. A GMC SUV following behind Bley then struck the Volt sending the two vehicles off to the side of the roadway while the Camaro spun towards the bridge. The Volt and GMC caught fire which spread to nearby brush. Firefighters were quick to respond to the scene and tackled the brushfire but Bley and the two children were pronounced dead on the scene.
The occupants of the GMC, a father and his son, were able to self-extricate from their vehicle and did not sustain any injuries. Dungan, the driver of the Camaro, required extrication from his vehicle and was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Stalking…? Really- Everyone should OUT this POS.
Nope. Stalking would be like if one went to the hospital where he is being held….This is just speculation.
If he’s the John Dugan of Santa Barbara on Facebook, his page is pretty horrible.
A google search of Dungan shows he was convicted of something in SB County Superior Court back in 2010. Couldn’t find details.
Stalking.
Hardly. Just curious to see that when someone does something devastatingly tragic and stupid, if there’s a pattern or history.
A Volt, electric, right? Can anyone comment as to whether having a large battery in a car causes fire on impact to be more, or less, dangerous, fast spreading, explosive or whatever?
They’ve been saying that since the 1930’s –and probably before that. It’s just a highly dangerous road, and there is no apparent permanent fix.
There is no reason in the world to withhold the names, and every reason to print them.
@10:38 – “The identities of the children have yet to be released, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.” THAT is the reason to withhold the names.
Guys, 12:02pm is saying the charge was for stalking. Not that you are stalking him by googling his past.
