A Solvang restaurant sustained a kitchen fire on Wednesday evening.
At 10:08 p.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to 1510 Mission Drive at the Big Bopper Restaurant for a report of a fire.
The restaurant was closed at the time and a passerby called 9-1-1 after seeing smoke and flames inside the building.
Crews quickly knocked down the fire in the kitchen area within ten minutes of arriving.
A Fire Inspector determined the fire was caused by a commercial cooktop that was accidentally left on.
“A passerby’s early recognition of the fire and activation of 911 assisted in limited damages to the restaurant,” said Fire Captain Scott Safechuck.
Fire personnel remained on the scene for mop-up. There were no injuries.
