Small Brush Fire Near Orcutt

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a vegetation fire burning west of Orcutt on Thursday afternoon.

At 1:24 p.m., crews responded to a report of multiple roadside fires south of Clark Avenue between Highway 1 and Highway 135.

The largest fire was reportedly burning less than 4 acres in grass with a slow rate of spread. The fire grew to five acres with the potential to reach eight acres, according to the Incident Command on the scene.

Fixed-wing tankers and one dozer were canceled as a air support helicopter responded to the scene.

Forward progess what shut down rather quickly on the larger fire and good progress was made on the smaller spot fires.

There were no structures threatened and the cause is under investigation.
