Source: Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of threatening graffiti that was located today, March 7, 2018, on a bathroom stall in the girl’s locker room at San Marcos High School. The graffiti message threatened a school shooting on March 9, 2018. School Administrators became aware of the graffiti at approximately 11:20 a.m. today through an anonymous post on the new STOPit reporting app. The school notified the Sheriff’s Office and deputies immediately responded to the campus to conduct an investigation.

Sheriff’s deputies are working closely with the Santa Barbara Unified School District to identify the source of the graffiti. Numerous interviews were conducted today with students, but so far a source hasn’t been identified. The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office requests anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 805-683-2724 or to leave an anonymous tip, please call 805-681-4171 or go to https://www.sbsheriff.org/home/anonymous-tip/.

While the validity of this threat has not yet been determined, the Sheriff’s Office takes all threats of school violence seriously. The Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols in and around the campus tomorrow and Friday.

  1. Only nowadays this stuff is very serious and one can ruin there life at a young age by posting stuff like this I knew a kid did it in Ventura wrote something on his desk his life has never been the same since.

  2. I believe the issues at San Marcos stem from the new Santa Barbara School district policy that discourages taking action on disciplinary matters and instead seeks to “talk” to offenders and “listen to their side of the story”. The culprit behind the threats at San Marcos probably benefitted from this “high tolerance” policy which was rolled out first at La Colina Junior High where he recently hails from. I suspect this allowed him to slip in to San Marcos without being on anyone’s radar screen thus not being offered the treatment and counseling he so clearly needs. I fear the consequences of this new district wide policy are going to lead to more incidents like this and a less safe environment in all of our schools. I think San Marcos just happened to be the first school where these new district mandated anti-discipline policies have caused a serious problem. I pray I am wrong but I fear I am correct.

  3. I mean’t to say Slow Flakes I’m sorry…Though concern for their children would have nothing to do with my statement..Do you try and put words in other peoples mouths alot? What is your point with that remark?

  4. I haven’t’ “mistaken” anything. You mentioned bicyclists, fact. The context is irrelevant to the fact that you brought it up. Now we’re jabbering about cyclists again. See what happens? Irresponsible posting….. smh.
