At approximately 3:00 p.m. on December 21, 2017, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a residence in the Vandenberg Village area and discovered a residential burglary in progress. While walking up the driveway of a home in the 4100 block of Aructus Avenue, a Sheriff’s Deputy heard glass breaking as if someone had just smashed a window. While looking over the fence, the deputy saw a male subject approximately 25-28 years old, with light colored facial hair, jump over the backyard fence carrying a black backpack and an ax/hammer style tool. The suspect then disappeared over a second backyard fence.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Lompoc Police Department Officers surrounded the immediate area and searched for the suspect. A Santa Barbara County Sheriff/Fire Air Support Unit and Lompoc Police K-9 unit assisted in the search. An emergency notification was sent out to residents in the immediate area, advising residents to stay indoors and be on the lookout for the suspect. After an extensive search, the suspect was not located.
The suspect is described as a white male adult in his mid to late 20s, 5’10” to 6’00” feet tall, 170 to 185 lbs. He had light facial hair in the shape of a goatee.
