On Saturday, June 15, 2019, at about 6:30 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies, assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol station, along with UC Santa Barbara Police officers, responded to the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive to investigate a residential burglary. While law enforcement personnel were responding to the area, the reporting party located items stolen from her home inside of a Dodge Ram truck that was parked in front of her residence. Law enforcement personnel contacted three adults, two men, and a woman, associated with the Dodge truck that was nearby.
After further investigation deputies arrested all three suspects. In addition to the stolen property that was located in the Dodge truck, more of the victim’s stolen property was located inside backpacks associated with the suspects. Other stolen property from another residential burglary that had occurred hours earlier in Isla Vista was also located in the vehicle. The victims of that burglary reported that they were at home asleep while that crime occurred.
The three suspects, Demarqus Wiggins (27) from Sausalito, CA., Rendrick Scypion (25) from Sausalito, CA., and Caitlin Williams (19) from Oakland, CA., were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for Residential Burglary (459 PC); Conspiracy to commit a crime (182 PC) and Possession of stolen property (496 PC) with bails set at $50,000.
There are several pieces of suspected stolen property that are being held for safekeeping at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol. You may contact the Isla Vista Foot Patrol by calling the Santa Barbara County Public Safety Dispatch Center at 805-683-2724 or respond to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol at 6504 Trigo Road in Isla Vista to identify stolen property.
