Not the same transients but considering the source and mentality of the Hater brain I know where you are coming from.
Service-resistant transient. Same group that hangs out in our city parks.
Murillo was not on residents side again when she voted for this. It’s a short sighted project. Why not help people (families) stay in their homes, domestic abuse victims or foster kids that have aged out if the system first? These people need a little help now to remain or get into housing permanently. They need as much, if not more, help than the target homeless group because some have children and will have better outcomes. They also won’t cause the disruption that closing a parking lot (in a city without a lot of parking), installing a fence and police officer on site will do to a neighbohood. This makes common sense. I don’t understand why people are so against making sure that we put money where our priorities should be for the best results.

He was Found hanging out with a group of transients at First West Cota street an Infield line up was conducted he was identified and is now in custody…
Acouple moments later there was another call for a male committing a sex act on himself near Blenders on State street 600-700 Block a naked male was found in a breezeway not to far away…Both incidents just happened in a 3 Block radius in Down Town Santa Barbara…
Transients Moving into Neighborhoods. – Council voted (Murillo, Gutierrez, Friedman, Sneddon and Hart) to take over the Castillo and Carrillo commuter parking lot and install 40 trailers for the homeless that are most service resistant for 3 years or more. No real notice was given to the community or neighbors unless you count a note taped to your door, or one found in the street, over a holiday weekend 4 days before a Council meeting notice. Transients like this are going to be pushed into neighborhoods. It will also offer a place for more homeless to congregate day and night. Neighborhoods already dealing with issues of the homeless breaking into homes, entering private property, and leaving other unmentionable things behind will face more of the same. It is unconscionable that the City not only wanted to pass the motion and not discuss or notify the community, but that the HEAP Application is only targeted to one group of people. – For those interested in this issue you should plan to attend a Community Meeting at 5:30PM, Wednesday, Dec 5th, at the Louis Lower Davis Center (corner of Victoria and De La Vina) to get more information and make it clear that the Council took the wrong avenue.
