Semi-Truck Crashes Off Highway 101 Near Buellton Early Wednesday

A semi-truck crashed on Highway 101 near Buellton early Wednesday morning.

At 2:28 a.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters and California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to southbound lanes near the Nojoqui Creek Bridge for a reported traffic collision.

When crews arrived they found a semi-truck hauling produce had crashed off the roadway into a ditch. The trailer had rolled onto its side while the cab remained upright.

The driver was able to self-extricate from the cab and was not injured.

One lane of the highway was closed well into the morning for vehicle removal.

Heavy fog was noted by responding firefighters although the official cause of the collision has yet to be released.
