By Bob on the Scanner
I listen to the scanner off-and-on, sometimes I’m by my computer and will send a report but othertimes I’ll keep a note and send it in later.
Here are some items I heard from the storm and other things around town in case anyone is interested.
1. Large Oak Tree Crashes in 900 Block of E. Mountain Drive
During the storm a massive oak tree uprooted and crashed on the roadway. Today, its closed to traffic as Caltrans is working to remove the tree.
2. Early Morning Pharmacy Burglary
Around 4:20 a.m. (TUESDAY) I heard of a burglary to the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy at 3605 State Street, next to Jeannine’s Bakery. No one was in the store at the time but three suspects were seen breaking through the glass of the front door and fleeing before police arrived.
Heard a confirmation of prescription pills taken from the store.
This is not the first time this pharmacy has been broken into, there was a period serveral years ago I remember this place got hit numerous times within a year.
3. Body Found in 5 Points Shopping Center
Around 3:00 p.m. (MONDAY) Santa Barbara Police responded to the 5 Points Shopping Center off Upper State (3900 block) for a reported medical call.
The traffic was a bit confusing, at first I thought they said a body was discovered inside a vehicle in the parking lot, then I thought they said outside of but next to the vehicle.
Emergency personnel blocked off the area with caution tape, in case you were nearby and saw it.
4. Beached Boats
Lots of reports of sailboats washing up on the shore following the storm. Unclear if they are still there but heard of at least three.
The pharmacy on 3605 State St. should have highly trained 4 Rottweilers inside after closing and rip apart anyone who is breaking in. “Good puppies! Here’s your Scooby-Snacks for doing an excellent job! And one T-Bone Steak for each of you!” (As they wag their short stubby tails with happiness.)
