Saving Painted Cave

By John Wiley

Air tankers like this jumbo were working hard trying to save the Painted Cave community from the fire roaring up the slope at about 11:50 am Tuesday.

Helo drop at Painted Cave. Below the jets is a swarm of helicopters.

  1. some Painted Cave residents didn’t evacuate, stayed to protect their homes. I still don’t understand how the (aledged)criminal who headed their volunteer fire department could also have the money from selling all their equipment to pay his lawyer fees. Apparently the fire truck and other equipment was bought by money from donations, and some from FEMA. Why does this not belong to the community?

  2. Exceedingly grateful! While I wonder what’s in the fire-retardants and if it ends up in the water/food supply chain, being cremated before I’m dead is a worse fate as far as I’m concerned.
