Heat advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this afternoon
* what… high temperatures between 90 and 100, except in the mid to upper 80s at the coolest beaches.
* Where… San Luis Obispo County central coast, Santa Barbara County central coast, Santa Ynez Valley, Ventura County coast, Los Angeles County coast including downtown Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel valley.
* When… from 10 am this morning to 5 PM PDT this afternoon.
* Impacts… hot weather may cause heat related illnesses.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Keep an extra eye out for heat related illnesses in people playing or practicing sports or performing other strenuous activities.
It’s days like these I am glad of an ocean breeze and thrilled that my family and I don’t live in Santa Ynez or anywhere inland.
At least 10 years of rolling blackouts due to heat, according to PG&E. (sure SCE is on the same plan).
We are by the beach in Carpinteria and it’s 92 here, 4:45p. Unusual, and not a whisper of a breeze.
