On Monday, January 23, 2023, at 1844 hrs., Santa Maria Police and Fire Departments responded to a major traffic collision at Main St. and Kathleen Ct.
A 2009 Cadillac CTS 4 door was travelling westbound on Main St. and collided into a large white box truck that was pulling out onto Main St. from Kathleen Ct.
The 21 yr. old male driver and sole occupant of the Cadillac died at the scene; his identity is being withheld at this time, pending the notfification of next of kin.
The SMPD Traffic Bureau responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation.
Main St. (SR-166) between Hansen Way and Blosser Rd. has been closed off to through traffic since the collision and is expected to remain closed for a few more hours while officers investigate the collision.
