Santa Barbara to Resume Citywide Timed-Parking on June 1

Source: City of Santa Barbara

As the City of Santa Barbara moves to re-open according to the phased approach directed by Santa Barbara County and State Public Health Orders, City Parking Enforcement will begin actively enforcing all timed-parking zones effective June 1, 2020. City Parking Enforcement will issue warnings until the first-of-the-month enforcement date.

Parking regulations involving City Street Sweeping will be phased-in at a later date.  Downtown City Parking Lots will still offer parking free of charge.

  1. OR: They’re resuming the enforcement of parking regulations in our city after giving everyone a two-month free pass. Local businesses depend on available parking being fluid enough to accommodate customers, rather than having someone park in front of their business all day as was generously allowed during the lockdown. Some people can’t see the positive while being too busy crowing about the negative.

  2. Nature boy, there is PLENTY of downtown parking. I happen to live two blocks west of Macy’s downtown. Our neighborhood is used by the shoppers and SBCC bro crowd going to drink. It’s a massive headache and the parking enforcement likes to cherry pick. they love to target locals that have lived there for 20 years, but seem to turn an eye to a shopper parked in front of my house when my kids and i have to park 4 blocks away and lug our groceries that far. I get tickets even with a parking permit. Parking in front of businesses? You can’t park on state street or Chapala or Anacapa, so I’m not sure what you are referring to. Do you live downtown?
